Fairbanks House Fun

A collection of happenings, events, people, places and things related to The Fairbanks House - an elegant, but gloriously unsophisticated bed and breakfast on Amelia Island, Florida. Look for guest photos, internet specials, upcoming events and maybe even a recipe or two.

My Photo
Name:
Location: Amelia Island, Florida, United States

I created this blog for a couple of reasons. In keeping a commitment that I made to myself, I have been walking at least thirty minutes every day since the first of the year. On these walks, I get to stroll through what I think is one of the most charming towns on earth. On every walk, I see at least 10 things that make me smile. I intend to show you a photo of one of those things (person, place, animal, flora, house, event or scene) so that you can enjoy our town right along with me. The second reason is so that you can keep tabs on my commitment to myself. I pledge to put a photo from the CURRENT day's walk on this blog every day. My goal is to begin running in about another month, so it could get tricky taking the camera along but I'll be thrilled to cross that bridge when I waddle over it. So....... no excuses. I invite you to keep tabs on me and to enjoy my little town of Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island, Florida right along with me. I turned 49 today. This is my "before " photo. You'll see me again when I turn 50 - February 1, 2008. I hope you'll enjoy the journey with me.

Goylz, goylz, goylz. For the last three years, Fairbanks House has featured "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Getaways" http://www.fairbankshouse.com/girls.html . This extremely popular package has ratcheted up the laugh factor at our house exponentially. Do not misunderstand; this is not the Girls Gone Wild crowd - it's the Girls Gone Mild version, but we still have lots of fun.

Since the inception of the package, we've noticed that there's lots of competition for certain times of the year. This weekend, we've got three "girls' groups" in-house from all over. If you're planning a girls getaway, and we hope you are, please note that you should plan way ahead if you're planning on coming in March, April, June July, September, October and November. The first weekend in April this year, we had 25 women from five different groups. And three men all named "Tom". Nice guys - they handled it well. Not sure about their wives...

A popular weekend for a Girls Getaway is during our Christmas Tour of Inns http://www.fairbankshouse.com/christmas.html . Rooms are still available, but you should book now for this wonderful event. This year's Tour will be held the second weekend of December.
